Government wins £263bn pension investment case

Mr Meech pointed out complications that could arise considering foreign policy ‘can change at the whim of Boris Johnson.’

A spokeswoman for the ministry of housing, communities and local government reiterated the Court of Appeal decision.

"New regulations and guidance issued in 2016 gave pension funds much greater freedom over their investment strategies.

"Pension funds should always choose to invest to get the best returns for their members. The Court of Appeal made clear there was nothing wrong with taking into account the broader public interest – and foreign and defence policy – in writing this guidance," she said.

The Palestine Solidarity Campaign is seeking the right to appeal at the Supreme Court.
