Bank of England cuts rates for first time in 4 years

“Put another way, higher than expected, yet easing, underlying inflation pressures can be seen to be consistent with a gradual reduction in interest rates to slightly less restrictive levels over time.”

This was a sentiment echoed by the MPC itself, which cautioned that inflationary pressures could prove sticky in the medium term.
